SMU women’s golf earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Waco Regional as the Mustangs chase another championship finals berth.

SMU women’s golf is headed back to the NCAA postseason, and the Mustangs have a real path to another national championship appearance.

The Mustangs were selected as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Waco Regional, which will be played May 11-13 at Ridgewood Country Club.

It’s SMU’s fourth straight NCAA Regional berth, and the program is now chasing its third trip to the NCAA Championship in the last four seasons.

SMU enters the regional with strong momentum after an impressive run at the ACC Championship.

The Mustangs finished second in stroke play among 15 teams, earned a bye into match play and beat North Carolina 3-1 in the semifinals before falling to No. 1 Stanford in the final.

That performance only added to a season that already included four top-two team finishes.

Seniors Mackenzie Lee and Emily Odwin continue to lead the way. Lee owns 13 SMU records and recently captured her first college title at the Huntington Bank Collegiate.

Odwin has been SMU’s most consistent scorer this season with a 71.82 average, the fifth-best single-season mark in program history.

The depth behind them makes the Mustangs dangerous. Junior Celine Chen owns a 72.68 scoring average this year and ranks fourth in SMU career scoring at 73.45.

Transfers Yoonjeong Huh and Grace Jin have also helped stabilize the lineup, while freshman Kirra St-Laurent has posted a 74.25 average with a top finish of 12th.

Now, the goal is simple ... finish high enough in Waco to move on.

SMU has built a postseason resume around experience, balance and elite scoring at the top. With Lee and Odwin setting the tone, the Mustangs won’t be sneaking up on anyone at Ridgewood Country Club.
