Rhett Lashlee called Jennings' performance against Virginia one of his best as he was a boring quarterback, and Kevin agrees.

It is now back-to-back games that the SMU Mustangs' offense hasn't been putting up video game numbers, yet Rhett Lashlee's team has won games.

The 23-13 win over Virginia saw the defense take center stage as they flexed their muscles, but the offense also did its job.

Once again, there were no self-inflicted wounds with turnovers, as the Mustangs played a "clean" game for the second week in a row.

Lashlee stated post-game that it was one of Jennings' best performances, even calling his play boring, but in a good way, as Kevin did what was asked, made plays when he needed to, and didn't turn the ball over.

Jennings a boring but good quarterback if it means a win?

Well, as it turns out, he agrees.

"Yeah, I definitely see it that way to really carry the ball and people around me help me do that," Jennings said. "So, as long as we continue to do that and not turn the ball over, we saw in the previous two games this game and Boston College, we got a chance to win every single game.

"So, our defense is going to step up every single time and give us a chance to be in situations like that. So long as we keep the ball out of the defenses hand and just make plays on the offensive side we'll be good."

So, the recipe for the Mustangs' success, and a way to lower fans' blood pressure, has been found.

Granted, everyone wants to play a clean game, but we know it's impossible to do it for a whole season, but at least SMU has now discovered it can do it.

Yes, they were winning despite the turnovers, but come playoff time, those turnovers are magnified and simply can't happen, which is why the Mustangs now discovering what playing complementary football can look like, that's what they'll strive for.

Their last two games haven't been ones that will live long in the memory, as there wasn't as much flash as there usually is, but there was more substance.

Scoring 23 and 25 points is considered low for his offense, but if they are winning games, then who cares? Because at the end of the day, I think fans would take wins like the ones against Boston College and Virginia over the wins earlier in the season.

Even if it means Kevin is a "boring" quarterback.
