Jennings surpassed Ben Hicks' record for all-time total yards agaisnt the Aggies.

SMU curb-stomped UC Davis to move to 2-0 with Kevin Jennings breaking a school record in the process.

With Jennings on fire, and finishing his day going 14 of 16 for 337 yards and 5 TDs, along with rushing for five yards, he became the all-time leader for total yards, surpassing Ben Hicks, with 9,073 total yards for his entire career with SMU.

We knew it would be coming and now Jennings sits top of that list with plenty of football still to come in 2026.

But what are his thoughts on it?

"It's truly amazing having all the great quarterbacks come through here, and just be on the top of that list is truly amazing," Jennings said.  "Props to Lashlee and the guys around me they help me out tremendously. So I am just very blessed and grateful to be on top of that list."

With the Mustangs and Jennings rolling, the quarterback continued to hit completion after completion as his passing yards total continued to rise.

And as the game went on, and he got close, was Kevin aware that he was about to break the record?

"No, so, I knew the passing yards record like how far out from that, but I never knew about the total yard," Jennings added. "So it kind of caught me by surprise. I got in there, and then they told me in the locker room, just very grateful."

So, it was a good day all around for the Mustangs, and it could get better for Jennings as he is on track to break Hicks' passing yards record (9,081) in the coming weeks.

Currently on 8,476, Jennings is on track to add another record to his collection with the Mustangs.

A 2-0 start is ideal for Rhett Lashlee's team, and up next is No. 24 ranked Louisville before they take on Missouri State.

So, in that two-game stretch, we can easily see Jennings, if he maintains his form from the 56-10 win over UC Davis, put up some serious numbers and lead this Mustangs team to even greater heights.

It's been a good start to the new season for Jennings and the Mustangs, but it could be about to get even better over the next few weeks.
