The Mustangs take on the Cardinals in a top ACC battle.
The 2-0 SMU Mustangs will be rolling into L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium to take on the 25th-ranked Louisville Cardinals in an ACC showdown.
We know how tight it is to make the ACC title game, and for the Mustangs, losing here would seriously dent their chances.
But Rhett Lashlee's side is in form and is starting to get rolling, but the Cardinals will also fancy their chances at taking down SMU.
With a good record against Louisville, the Mustangs will want to keep it up, and having Kevin Jennings at quarterback certainly boosts hope and excitement.
But how does he feel about going on the road against a ranked opponent?
"Yeah, it feels good getting to play an opponent we've played for the past two years," Jennings said. "It's been a great game. So, feels good to go in there, good atmosphere, good team. It's a good environment. Get to play a good top-25 team."
The last time the two teams met, the Mustangs won easily, 38-6, but the last time they met in Louisville? It was a tough game.
Yes, SMU won 34-27, with Jennings going 21 of 27 for 281 yards, along with 113 rushing yards and a touchdown, but it was a close contest.
Will having already played there before help the Mustangs, who have a lot of new faces?
"Yeah, I'll say so," Jennings said. "We got new players in, but they're pretty used to those environments, playing at other schools and all that So, I don't think it'll be a crazy thing for us. I think we just go in, roll in, and do our base stuff at a high level. I don't think it'll be nothing crazy."
There will be a lot on the line for Lashlee's team as they were seen as one of the ACC favorites in preseason.
So, to come on the road and knock off the Cardinals would be a big feather in their cap, and the Mustangs have all the talent on both sides of the ball to do so.
They have the momentum over Louisville, let's see if SMU can keep it rolling.
