SMU volleyball continues to make waves on the national stage as Favor Anyanwu and Suli Davis have been selected to participate in the USA Volleyball Women’s National Team Collegiate Training Series, set for Feb. 19-22 at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
The elite training event will feature 62 athletes from 29 NCAA Division I programs across 20 USA Volleyball regions.
The invite-only series provides top collegiate players an opportunity to train in a national team environment while being evaluated by USA Volleyball’s Women’s National Team staff.
Favor Anyanwu arrives in Colorado Springs with an impressive resume. The AVCA All-American Honorable Mention middle blocker is coming off a dominant season at SMU, where she ranked fifth nationally with 178 total blocks - the second-highest single-season total in program history.
The Rowlett, Texas native also earned AVCA Southwest Region First Team and All-ACC Second Team honors in her first year on the Hilltop.
Anyanwu is no stranger to international competition. She most recently competed at the 2025 Women’s U21 Pan American Cup, helping Team USA capture gold while earning recognition as the tournament’s Second-Best Middle Blocker.
Suli Davis brings similar star power. The AVCA Second Team All-American and standout outside hitter has been part of the USA U19 program since 2023. Last summer, Davis shined at the 2025 FIVB Girls U19 World Championship, where she was named Best Outside Hitter.
The Euless, Texas product transferred to SMU after a record-setting freshman season at BYU, where she broke the Cougars’ rally-scoring era freshman kills record and earned Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors.
Beyond on-court sessions, athletes will also hear from professional leagues like Athletes Unlimited, Major League Volleyball and League One Volleyball about post-college pathways.
For SMU volleyball, having two players invited to this prestigious USA Volleyball training series signals the program’s growing national profile ... and reinforces that elite talent is thriving on the Hilltop.
