Stanford's 2027 recruiting class is small, but three four-star recruits give the Cardinal the talent to make a deeper run

Despite a dominant year that saw the program end the regular season on a 14-game win streak, the Cardinal fell short of their national title goals, losing in the NCAA regionals to Oklahoma State — missing the Women's College World Series for the second straight year.

The window is still there. But getting through it will require more than another strong regular season.

With six seniors departing — Taryn Kern, Kyra Chan, Emily Jones, Allison Morikawa, Ella Murchison and River Mahler — Stanford enters the offseason with significant holes to fill. The Cardinal will look to the transfer portal and other avenues to fill those gaps, but they also have a recruiting class arriving in 2027 that could help keep them on schedule.

Next year's class may be small with only four players, but three are four-star recruits. The fourth, pitcher Emmaline Humphreys, rounds out the group as a three-star with notable upside of her own.

Marisa Bryson, INF

A four-star recruit out of nearby Pioneer High School, Bryson is a proven winner — earning three straight Cal-Hi All-State first team selections, three school MVPs and multiple league and NorCal first-team honors. The niece of former Red Sox star Dustin Pedroia, she comes from a baseball and softball family and is no stranger to high-leverage moments.

The Cardinal are getting a player with elite versatility, capable of playing anywhere in the infield, something head coach Jessica Allister made clear when Bryson made her commitment.

"Marisa is a sure-handed infielder with a plus arm and special power," Allister said. "Although she primarily plays on the left side, Marisa has the defensive versatility to play anywhere on the field."

Lydia Berent, P

Berent, a four-star from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Boca Raton, Florida, will bring a major boost to a pitching staff that was one of the Cardinal's strengths in 2026, even if it stumbled a bit in the ACC Tournament and the NCAA regionals.

She anchored the Cardinal Gibbons staff to a 26-2 regular season and a No. 5 national ranking, posting a 0.65 ERA in the process.

Adding Berent to the main trio of Zoe Prystajko, Alyssa Houston and Anna Brewer, the Cardinal should have options in the circle when the postseason rolls around.

"Lydia is a power pitcher with the ability to spin the ball both up and down in the zone," Allister said of Berent. "Her athleticism combined with her work ethic mean that her best days are in front of her."

Kale'a Tindal, OF

Another four-star recruit, Tindal is a speedster from Harvard-Westlake. She's a multi-tool player that could very well be a starter right out of the gate.

An accomplished high school star, winning 2023 Offensive Player of the Year honors, 2025 league co-MVP and ranked the No. 5 player in her class by Line Drive Media, Tindal is known for her power from the left side of the plate as well as being an elite fielder with good range.

The Cardinal were a very good hitting team in 2026, but adding an on-base machine with speed like Tindal means that the way the Cardinal offense operates could look different next spring, with Stanford ranking sixth in the ACC in both home runs (61) and runs scored (374). While they had a high success rate in stolen bases, swiping 45 bags in 51 chances, they ranked 12th in steals.

"KJ is a dynamic offensive threat from the left side of the plate with great range in the outfield," Allister said. "She will impact the game by generating runs with both her speed and power."
