Angeli was ranked as the 32nd-best quarterback Power Four quarterback in the nation after finishing the 2025 campaign with 1,317 passing yards, 10 touchdown and two interceptions.
However, there are questions moving forward. Let's dive in:
The Notre Dame transfer won the starting quarterback job in August over Rickie Collins. In just four starts for the Orange, Angeli helped lead the team to a 3-1 record including a victory over the Clemson Tigers. Angeli suffered an Achilles tendon tear and missed the remainder of the season. Syracuse suffered eight straight losses following the injury and finished 3-9 overall.
With Angeli back in the fold for 2026, things should look significantly better for Fran Brown's group. In addition to Angeli's return, the Orange have brought in a handful of exciting new coaches, including Vince Kehres (defensive coordinator) and Sean Ryan (quarterbacks coach).
These coaching hires are on top of an experienced crop of transfer portal additions.
