The Basketball Hall of Famer was seemingly unhappy.

Basketball Hall of Famer and Syracuse legend Carmelo Anthony made some noise on Monday night as the Orange lost 87-77 against North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.

It was only four simple letters, but it sent reverberations through the fanbase: "SMFH" were Anthony's comments on a Syracuse Instagram post from the first half.

To be fair, it's unclear what exactly Anthony was upset about in the moment, but he'd have plenty of potential things to choose from because the fanbase is frustrated as well. The 13-10 overall record is frustrating, the 4-6 record in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play is frustrating, losing four of the last five is frustrating (after this loss) and the role of his son could be frustrating too.

Again, we don't know exactly what had 'Melo upset, but his son Kiyan's role has certainly been questioned by some Syracuse fans this season. He played a big role in the non-conference, especially when Donnie Freeman was out for nine games with an injury, but within the league, he's struggled to get opportunities. He played just nine minutes on Saturday in a win against Notre Dame. He played 16 against UNC on Monday, scoring 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting.

About Carmelo Anthony

Now 41 years old, Anthony spent just one season himself at Syracuse, winning the title in 2002-2003 by beating the Kansas Jayhawks in the NCAA title game. He started all 35 games that season, scoring 22.2 points per game and pulling down 10 rebounds. One of the best pure scorers of his generation, Anthony also had an accomplished NBA career that spanned 19 seasons with the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder. A 10-time All-Star, he was also a six-time All-NBA selection.

He also led Team USA to Olympic Gold Medals in 2008, 2012 and 2016, becoming one of the most decorated international players in USA Basketball history. He also got a bronze medal in Athens in 2004.

He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame last September.
