The former Florida State standout is generating interest from the Orange, but many others are in pursuit.
College basketball's transfer portal continues to stay busy after opening up earlier this week.
While just one of many possibilities that exist in the portal, it's now possible that a former Florida State Seminole could be joining Syracuse's roster for the 2026-2027 campaign. College basketball analyst Sam Kayser posted on X that Martin Somerville has been contacted by Syracuse, along with other teams, as a potential addition for the upcoming season.
The 6'3' sophomore averaged 8.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game this season.
One of Somerville's best games this past season came inside the JMA Wireless Dome against the Orange. In a Jan. 13 loss against Syracuse, Somerville scored 18 points while registering two steals and two rebounds in just 22 minutes of action.
Syracuse is far from the only team talking to Somerville, as Wake Forest, Nebraska, NC State, Rutgers are also in the mix. There are more, which you can see below.
Transfer additions so far
The Orange have already added two players for next year's roster from the transfer portal:
Gavin Doty
A Fulton, NY native, Doty announced his commitment to the Orange just hours after the portal opened earlier this week.
A First-Team All-MAAC selection, Doty averaged more than 18 point per game this year while also pulling nearly seven rebounds per contest. Doty's efforts helped lead Siena to their first conference title in 16 years. The Saints were eliminated as a No. 16 seed in this year's NCAA tournament, although the Saints almost pulled off an historic upset. Siena led by double-digits at halftime and held a lead with five minutes to before No. 1 Duke pulled away for the win.
Doty has two years of eligibility remaining.
Tasman Goodrick
The 6'10' big man from Australia, Goodrick also announced his intentions to leave Siena for Syracuse this April. The sophomore averaged 9.7 ppg and 7.3 rebounds before an injury cut his season short. Goodrick will also have two years of eligibility remaining.
