The Syracuse University men's basketball program lost again on Saturday afternoon, falling 77-64 against the University of North Carolina at the JMA Wireless Dome.
The Orange are now 15-13 overall and 6-9 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play with three games to play in the regular season.
It was a brutal offensive performance for the Orange, who were just 3-of-17 from three-point range. They also only had six assists for the game in total, failing to move the ball once again.
After the game concluded, former Syracuse guard Eric Devendorf seemingly took a shot at the program on social media. Devendorf has served as an analyst for some games on the ESPN family of networks this season.
Win or lose you can tell when players really love to hoop. It’s tough to watch when it seems like a lot of guys don’t really love it like that.
It's unclear who exactly Devendorf is talking about, but his point is noteworthy nonetheless.
Interjecting my own opinion for a moment, it has seemed all season like guys care, but William Kyle III is the only player that puts forth max effort each time he's on the court. That's not to say guys don't try, but Kyle is the one whos motor stands out above the rest.
A four-year player in the program, Devendorf suited up from 2005-2009. He started 90 games while appearing in 116 total and averaged 14.5 ppg for his career. A member of the 2005-06 Big East All-Freshman team, he also made the Big East All-Tournament team in 2009. He shot 37.8 percent from three-point range for his career.
James Lang-Imagn ImagesSU will have a week off before taking on Wake Forest on Feb. 28. That game will tip-off at 3:45 p.m. ET from Winston-Salem, N.C.
--Congratulations are in order for Syracuse women's hockey coach Britni Smith, who helped lead Team Canada to the silver medal at the Olympics this week. The Canadians were beaten by the Americans in the gold medal game. Team USA has now won the gold medal in two of the last three Olympics.
--The Syracuse men's lacrosse team lost a disappointing contest against Harvard on Saturday, falling 13-12. Syracuse had moved up to No. 1 in the nation but is sure to fall back in the polls when the new one is released on Monday.
--23,606 fans attended Saturday's men's hoops game, the most fans at any college hoops game this season, in any venue.
