Ice Young competed for the Orange for two seasons, and now, she's covering the Philadelphia 76ers.
Nearly two weeks ago, the 2026 NFL season officially kicked off. As is usually the case, Syracuse University has several alums serving as broadcasters for national, regional and local telecasts around the league.
While most of the Syracuse-broadcasting connections did not compete as athletes for the Orange, some did, like former Dallas Cowboys fullback Darryl Johnston.
Later this year, another former Orange athlete will continue their professional career in the media landscape.

Who is Isis "Ice" Young?
A 5-foot-7 native of New Jersey, Young actually spent seven seasons playing college basketball, first appearing in a game in 2015 and last appearing in 2021. She played 87 total games at four programs, beginning her career at Florida, with stops at Syracuse, Fordham and Siena as well.
Young took full advantage of multiple redshirt seasons and the extra year provided to athletes who played during the COVID pandemic. Redshirt seasons no longer exist under the "age-based eligibility model."
Because of injuries and prior rules on transferring, Young only appeared on the floor in five seasons. In total, Young averaged 5.9 points per game. She averaged 4.6 with the Orange, helping them get to the NCAA Tournament in 2017-18.

Young graduated from Syracuse with a degree from the highly regarded Newhouse School of Communications. She was named an All-MAAC selection at Siena in the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season.
After completing her collegiate playing career, Young shifted into broadcasting.
Her post-playing career has included being a part of broadcasts on ESPN, ESPN+, CBS Sports and TNT.
This season, Young will shift into a new role as a studio analyst for the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers. The 30 year-old Young will work for NBC Sports Philadelphia.
What does it mean for Syracuse's women's basketball program?
It doesn't mean anything for the program on the floor itself this season, but it could matter in recruiting down the line. It's always an advantage to be able to point to successful people as examples of what recruits could become if they make Syracuse part of their journey.
