The Orange now know dates for their conference games this season as they look to improve upon last year's 15-17 record.

Syracuse basketball has already long known which ACC teams would be on its schedule for 2026-27, as well as which sites those games would be played at. But earlier this week, the conference officially came out with the dates of each contest, meaning the league schedule is done for first-year head coach Gerry McNamara.

Syracuse is coming off a 15-17 season and has not made the NCAA Tournament since 2021. The Orange have also never made the semifinals of the conference tournament in the more than a decade that they've been part of the ACC.

Could this upcoming season end those streaks? A lot of it will depend on how Syracuse navigates its challenging league schedule.

Here are four takeaways from this year's ACC schedule that will likely impact the Orange.

Jan. 5, home against Duke (with no students in attendance)

Whenever Duke comes to town, it's the biggest game of the season for the Orange and their fans.

Duke has had more recent success than any other program in the conference, and advanced to the Elite Eight a season ago. The Orange and Blue Devils had some classic games in the mid-2010's inside the JMA Wireless Dome, but the programs have trended in opposite directions over the last half-decade.

This season's game against Duke will be played on Jan. 5. Unfortunately for McNamara and his team, a home court advantage might be less impactful than they hoped.

Syracuse's winter semester ends on Dec. 15 and spring semester doesn't begin until Jan. 12. That likely means the student section known as "Otto's Army" will be far smaller than previous years.

In previous seasons, students would camp out for the matchup against Duke. Now this season, the Orange will have to take on the Blue Devils will far less students in the building.

West Coast road trip

Since Stanford and California were added to the ACC in 2024, the travel in the league has significantly increased. The Orange will have to travel 3,000 miles to California this January to take on Stanford (Jan. 27) and Cal (Jan. 30). The Orange will stay out West for that trip to mitigate the affects of travel, but the long trip could still wreak havoc.

Senior Day vs. Wake Forest

With the advent of the transfer portal, "Senior Day," has become increasingly difficult to quantify. It will be made even tougher this year because of the "five in five rule."

Who is actually a senior playing their last game and who will come back for a fifth year? Who will leave the program for that fifth year? Nobody knows.

Last season, the Orange saw JJ Starling get honored on "Senior Day," but Starling could be playing for Buffalo this season.

Only two seniors are currently listed on the  Orange roster: Tasman Goodrick and Garwey Dual.

Only three home games in February

It is hard to determine if just three home games in the entire month of February is a good or a bad thing yet for fans (Feb. 3 vs Virginia, Feb. 17 vs Stanford, Feb. 23 vs Pittsburgh) The Central New York weather is notoriously brutal in that time of year.

If the Orange are struggling, more home games could have been met with decreased attendance as a result. But if the team is playing well and needs those wins in order to try to make the NCAA Tournament, they'll wish they had more home games.
