The Orange will play their first game in the league tournament on Friday.

The Syracuse University men's lacrosse team ended its regular season with a 16-11 loss against Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon, ending the campaign at 11-4.

But just because the regular season is over, it doesn't mean that the Orange are done playing. They'll open up Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play on Friday and then they should be selected for the NCAA Tournament afterwards.

Here's what you need to know about the ACC Tournament field.

Only five teams compete in the ACC

Unlike basketball, for instance, which has 18 teams in the conference, men's lacrosse only has five: Notre Dame, North Carolina, Syracuse, Virginia and Duke.

Final regular season standings

Notre Dame won the regular season title after going 10-1 and 3-1 inside league play. They are currently ranked No. 1 in the country.

North Carolina earned the two seed after going 11-3 and 2-2 in the league. Syracuse finished third, based on tiebreakers, also finishing 2-2 in the ACC and 11-4 overall. Virginia went 8-6 in the regular season and also 2-2 in the league to finish fourth. Duke was 9-4, but finished 1-3 in the regular season to finish fifth.

They miss the league tournament as a result.

ACC Tournament matchups

The tournament will be held in Charlotte, N.C., and the semifinals will take place on Friday.

No. 4 Virginia takes on No. 1 Notre Dame at 5 p.m. ET while No. 3 Syracuse takes on No. 2 North Carolina at 8 p.m. ET.

The championship is played on Sunday at noon ET.

How Syracuse fared vs. UNC this year

Syracuse lost to UNC 14-9 in a road contest, so perhaps the neutral nature of his showdown will help the Orange.

Michael Leo had three goals for SU while the program's all-time leading scorer, Joey Spallina, was held scoreless.

--Syracuse women's basketball standout Uche Izoje is representing the Nigerian national team this offseason. After being named as the ACC Rookie of the Year this past season, Izoje put up an excellent showing in a Saturday contest against the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA. She was Nigeria's second-leading scorer.

Despite multiple players transferring out of the program this offseason, Izoje has said she's going to return to Syracuse next season.

--Multiple members of the Syracuse football program have signed undrafted free agent contracts or have agreed to participate in NFL rookie minicamps.

No SU players were drafted in the NFL Draft over the weekend.
