On Tuesday afternoon, the Syracuse University men's basketball team saw its season end in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tournament.
On Wednesday morning, the university officially fired head coach Adrian Autry after three seasons at the helm of the program.
Autry, who was hired in 2023 to take over for Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim, went 49-48 and never made the NCAA Tournament. SU went 15-17 in this campaign, losing 12 of its final 15. They will not be part of the NCAA Tournament field when it's released on Sunday, marking the fifth straight year that the program misses the tournament.
In addition to hiring a head coach, Syracuse also needs to hire a new athletic director: John Wildhack is retiring at the end of June. His successor will reportedly have the final decision on the new head coach.
However, Matt Norlander of CBS Sports reports that SU has already done some due diligence on at least six names.
The current head coach at St. Louis University for two seasons, Schertz has SLU at 27-4 this season. They'll begin the Atlantic 10 conference tournament on Friday against Fordham and will need to win three games in three days to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

The current head coach at Merrimack, Gallo guided his team to the No. 1 seed in the MAAC Tournament this season before getting upset in the final on Tuesday. He helped lead the Warriors through a transition from Division II to Division I and did so with much success in both levels. He's also been an assistant at Robert Morris and Dartmouth.
