We already knew that Buddy Boeheim was going to suit up for "Boeheim's Army," but the Orange alumni squad now has another member.

We already knew that former Syracuse men's basketball sharpshooter Buddy Boeheim was going to suit up for the SU alumni "Boeheim's Army" team at this year's version of the "TBT."

Now, we know another member of the Orange squad that will try to take home the $2 million prize: Elijah Hughes, who was announced as playing on Monday.

Hughes spent three years playing in college from 2016-2020, suiting up for both East Carolina and Syracuse. In two years in Central New York, he started all 66 games he played in, averaging 16.3 ppg total. He had 19 ppg in his final season while also shooting 34.2 percent from three-point range.

An All-ACC selection in 2019-20, his final season in Orange was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, but he was drafted No. 39 overall in the NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans. In 54 career NBA games with the Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers, he scored 2.9 ppg.

New format for TBT

Our own Tom Goslowski has covered the new look for the tournament, and some of the following comes from a portion of his coverage.

After having 61 teams in 2025, 'TBT' will feature only 16 teams this year, with eight alumni teams and eight non-alumni teams competing on two separate sides of a bracket.

The alumni bracket will take place in college towns across the country.

The eight alumni teams will be matched up in best-of-three series, while the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship will be single-elimination.

The non-alumni bracket will feature eight teams playing from July 23-30 in Las Vegas. All eight alumni slots have already been filled, with one of those non-alumni slots being filled by a team represented by former NBA player Baron Davis.

There is a $2 million prize. The alumni bracket champion will meet the non-alumni bracket champion for the ultimate prize. The championship is Aug. 2.

About the Syracuse first round matchup

Syracuse will play the Seton Hall alumni team in the first round best-of-three, with Game 1 being held in the Seton Hall home gym. This series will take place from July 21-24.

As mentioned above, Buddy Boeheim is also on the roster:

The son of legendary coach Jim Boeheim, Buddy spent all four years in Central New York (2018-2022). He played in 121 career games, starting 94 of them. He played a whopping 38 minutes a game during his final season. A very good three-point shooter, he averaged 14.6 ppg for his career. His 19.2 ppg as a senior led the Atlantic Coast Conference, as did his 88.4 percent free-throw percentage.

He was an All-ACC selection in that season as well and he helped lead SU to the NCAA Tournament twice. They haven't been back since he was a senior and the team advanced to the Sweet 16 (2020-21).

He did play with Hughes in Syracuse.
