Which member of the Orange athletic community stood out above the rest last month?
It's hard to believe, but we are winding down the fall portion of the 2026-27 athletic calendar. Just two months into the year, and we've already seen quite a few standout performances on the fields of play for Syracuse Orange athletes.
Each month, SyracuseRoundtable brings you the Syracuse Athlete of the Month, on both the men and the women's side.
Here are October's nominees, complete with winner as well.
October's four finalists
Women's Ice Hockey goalie Jackson Kinsler- The senior forward netted four goals in the month for the Orange. Kinsler's strong month is one of the reasons why this year's team is pacing for an historic season. Syracuse is 7-3-0 entering play on Saturday, and the group is 5-3 inside conference play.
Football's Umari Hatcher- Hatcher, a senior wideout, has had an impressive October. Hatcher's individual numbers have him on pace to make an All-ACC team at the end of the season and he'll try to continue his strong play on Saturday against SMU.
Men's soccer junior midfielder Kristjan Fortier- Fortier posted three points this month for the Orange. The Canadian has helped SU to a 7-7-2 record thus far, though the program is just 1-5-2 in league play.
Women's Field Hockey Hattie Madden - The senior forward has helped guided the Orange to an ACC tournament spot. Madden, this month, scored a goal and added four points.
