Justin Outten is going to stay with the Seattle Seahawks.

After winning a Super Bowl title in 2025, Justin Outten is running it back with the Seattle Seahawks in 2026.

Outten, a Syracuse football alum, has earned a promotion to run game coordinator, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

He had previously served as a run game specialist and assistant offensive line coach. The Seahawks interviewed him for their vacant offensive coordinator position, but ultimately went in a different direction. The Las Vegas Raiders tried to interview him for a run game coordinator position, but the Seahawks blocked the interview request.

Now departed Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak left Seattle to take the head coaching job in Las Vegas, so he had known and worked with Outten, but the Seahawks clearly value his ability.

About Outten

Outten spent four years with the Orange on the offensive line, playing from 2003-06. In that time, Syracuse posted two .500 records, going 6-6 twice. A Pennsylvania native, he was a full-time starter in both his junior and senior years.

As a coach, he began with Syracuse (2007) before moving onto a high school head coaching job in the Houston area (2008-15). Then, he joined the Atlanta Falcons (2016-18), Green Bay Packers (2019-21), Denver Broncos (2022), and Tennessee Titans (2023-24). He got to Seattle in 2025 and helped make a difference in a much improved run game. Zack Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker formed a dynamic 1-2 punch for head coach Mike Macdonald. Walker was named the MVP of the Super Bowl, which the Seahawks won 29-13 over the New England Patriots.

Outten could have his work cut out for him in 2026, as Charbonnet is expected to miss most of the season with a knee injury suffered in the playoffs. Walker is a free agent and it's unclear if he'll be back.
