One day after securing the commitment of running back Ju'Juan Johnson in the transfer portal, the Syracuse University football team has added another offensive weapon.
As noted by On3, SU has landed wide receiver Cole Weaver, who previously played at Miami (Ohio).
A solid player out of the Mid-American Conference, Weaver just had 45 catches for 642 yards and a touchdown. He has two years of eligibility left for the Orange.
He helped lead Miami to a MAC Championship berth, but his group was beaten by Fresno State. He had two catches for 43 yards in that game.
Syracuse has experienced some attrition in the wide receiver room this offseason, with both Darrell Gill Jr. and Johntay Cook announcing their intentions to transfer.
Of course, SU also is bringing in Calvin Russell, who is one of the top recruits in the entire country. He's going to be on campus this week for early enrollment, and he'll actually start practicing with the SU men's basketball team immediately.
Johnson is also a good receiving back and Syracuse is bringing in Michael Smith, a tight end who previously played at South Carolina. That's the extent of their portal adds as of this writing.

Syracuse finished a disappointing 3-9 in 2025, but a lot of that can be blamed on the injury to quarterback Steve Angeli, who missed the final eight games of the campaign, all losses. He's returning in 2026 so the group should be better, and the hiring of new defensive coordinator Vince Kehres has also provided reason for optimism. He helped make Toledo's defense into one of the best units in the entire nation in 2025.
The Syracuse men's basketball team earned its first win of Atlantic Coast Conference play on Tuesday night by beating Georgia Tech 82-72 in Atlanta. Sophomore Donnie Freeman led the way with 27 points and nine rebounds while Naithan George had 17 in his return to GT, where he previously played.
Syracuse is now 10-5 on the season and they'll resume ACC play on Saturday afternoon when they take on Pitt at Pitt. Tip-off time is set for 2 p.m. ET and we'll have coverage here on Syracuse Roundtable.
