Calvin Russell III, one of the top recruits in Syracuse football history, is not hurt.

The Syracuse men's basketball program got embarrassed on Monday night by the Duke Blue Devils, losing 101-64 at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Orange are now 15-12 and 6-8 inside Atlantic Coast Conference play. Duke is ranked No. 3 nationally.

Despite the disappointment on the hardwood, it wasn't all bad news for SU Athletics, as there was a good report on Calvin Russell III.

If you remember, Russell is one of the top-ranked recruits in Syracuse football history, but he's also a member of the basketball program. Because he graduated high school early, he was able to step on to the basketball team right away. He won't play his freshman football season until later this year.

Well, when he was ruled out of Monday's hoop game it prompted people to wonder what was wrong and if there were going to be any setbacks for him on the gridiron.

Orange fans can rest easy and stop speculating, as noted by Mike Waters of Syracuse.com.

Calvin Russell was listed as unavailable for Syracuse for tonight's game at Duke.

Not a big deal for basketball; Russell was a 5-star recruit in football, but SU football fans can relax.

Russell is sick and remained in Syracuse rather than travel with the team.

That's a bit of good news, especially with spring football practice slated to start in March. We just learned that the spring game is set for April 11, and Russell will be a big part of it - as long as he's healthy.

As for the hoops game

Not much good to note here, as the Orange were beaten in every way. Duke shot 60 percent from the floor and 60 percent from three-point range. Cameron Boozer had 22 points and 12 rebounds, continuing to prove why he might be the best player in the country.

Donnie Freeman and JJ Starling both failed to score in double-figures and SU had more turnovers than assists.

William Kyle III did play well, scoring 12 points and registering two blocks.

Also on campus

--The Syracuse men's lacrosse team is now No. 1 in the nation after beating previous No. 1 Maryland on Friday night. Syracuse got to the Final Four a year ago and looks like one of the national championship favorites again early in this campaign. Greg Gait's team is 3-0.

--The SU women's basketball team is now 21-5 after beating Clemson over the weekend. They are also 11-4 in conference and will play North Carolina State on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.
