If you're looking to plan your fall around SU football, you got some nice news on Friday.

If you are looking to plan your fall around Syracuse football, you got some nice news on Friday as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced that every Syracuse home game will be played on Saturday.

We already knew the opponents for 2026, and we already the sequencing of those opponents, but there were some outstanding questions about the days of the week of some matchups.

Having every home game played on a Saturday gives fans a chance to see the Orange play on a traditional college football day, which should maximize fan interest, attendance, and revenue.

Syracuse's home games with SMU (Oct. 31) and Clemson (Nov. 7) have both been selected for Saturdays. The two games were previously announced as flex schedule games with either Friday or Saturday designation.

The 2026 schedule

Sept. 5: vs. New Hampshire

Sept. 12: vs. Cal

Sept. 17: at Pitt

Oct. 3: at UConn

Oct. 10: at Virginia

Oct. 17: vs. Louisville

Oct. 24: at North Carolina

Oct. 31: vs. SMU

Nov. 7: vs. Clemson

Nov. 14: at North Carolina State

Nov. 21: at Boston College

Nov. 28: vs. Notre Dame

Syracuse faced seven of those teams in 2025. Their combined record against them was 2-5. This will mark a second straight year that Syracuse has to play on Halloween. They lost to the North Carolina on Halloween last season.

Takeaway 1: Starting and ending at home

You always want a chance to start the season off on the right foot, so beginning with consecutive home games against New Hampshire and Cal is a nice thing - especially when Cal will have had to travel 3,000 miles to kick off conference play.

Furthermore, the final game of the season is against Notre Dame, meaning that if SU needs a signature win against the Irish, they'll have a chance to get it in front of a raucous Thanksgiving weekend crowd.

Takeaway 2: Tough turnaround for ACC game No. 2

Syracuse lucks out in not having to play traditional ACC powers like Miami and Florida State in 2026, but they do have to see Pitt. The Panthers went 8-5 and played in a bowl game in 2025, making them one of the more difficult games on the SU schedule. Not only that, but Syracuse gets them on a short week - on the road. Playing on a Thursday (Sept. 17) against a good opponent is never favorable.

Takeaway 3: Notre Dame at the end

Let's make this clear: SU went 3-9 in 2025 and doesn't have a lot of expectations to people on the outside. I do have high expectations. With Steve Angeli back at quarterback and a good crop of transfers, I think SU should be able to make noise in the conference. By playing Notre Dame at the end of the season, Syracuse will already be done with conference play. The hope is that the Orange will have already clinched a spot in the ACC title game, making the Notre Dame just an extra chance at a resume builder.

Had SU played the Irish in the middle of the year and lost, it could be deflating for the rest of league play. That won't be the case this season.

Takeaway 4: Three straight road games

Three straight road games from games 3-5 is certainly tough, and it's four road games in five contests when you expand out the schedule two more weeks. Of course, there is the bye week in there after the game against Pitt.
