Fran Brown is continuing to add to future Syracuse rosters through his work on the recruiting trail.
Before being hired by Syracuse University as the head football coach in November 2023, Fran Brown had a reputation nationally for being a top-tier recruiter.
That reputation has not faded away for Brown during his tenure in Central New York. Brown landed five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell III for the 2026 campaign, and in a 24-hour period this week, Brown and his staff gained two more commitments to the Syracuse football program.
Edan Richardson
On Thursday afternoon, the Orange locked in defensive lineman Edan Richardson.
Richardson played high school football at Calvary Christian in Florida but will transfer to Archbishop McCarthy, also in the Sunshine State, for his upcoming senior season.
Originally from Canada, the 6-foot-4 prospect also held offers from Boston College, Central Florida and and Coastal Carolina.
Richardson shared his commitment to Syracuse on the social media platform X
"After much prayer, reflection, and consideration with my family I am incredibly blessed to announce my commitment to Syracuse University!"
He will be on campus for 2027 season.
Chanin Harris
Just four hours after Richardson announced his commitment on X, Chamin Harris followed and posted his decision to join Syracuse as well.
Harris is a wide receiver hailing from South Carolina. 24/7sports lists Harris as a three star prospect while ESPN lists Harris as high as a 4 star
The 6-foot-1 speedy wideout also held offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
Harris had Syracuse in his final four schools and had planned on visiting the other three schools (listed above) in June.
After visiting Syracuse, Harris canceled the visits and committed to the Orange.
Can these players change their commitment still?
Yes. Players in the class of 2027, both committing to FBS and FCS programs, still have until Dec. 2, 2026 to officially sign a letter of intent to the school. Players are also given a second deadline of Feb. 3, 2027 to make their decision official.
Who are the next hopeful signees?
Syracuse fans are still awaiting the decision from other players considering the Orange. That list includes the No. 1 prospect in New York State according to 247 Sports, Elijah Kimble. Kimble, the 5-foot-10 running back from Buffalo visited campus earlier this summer. He also holds offers from North Carolina, Indiana and Arkansas.
Along with Kimble, New Jersey defensive lineman Javon Lane visited with Brown and his staff. Lane did not commit to the Orange immediately and shared via social media he will taking an official visit to Temple this upcoming weekend.
The Orange went 3-9 in 2025 and will kick off the 2026 season on Sept. 5 against New Hampshire.
