We already knew that the Orange were going to play Wake Forest in Toronto, but there's more on the table now.
The 2026 Syracuse Orange football team is set to head to Pittsburgh this Thursday for an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) showdown against their former Big East Rivals.
The Orange enter the contest at 1-1 overall and 0-1 inside league play after a tough loss to Cal in the conference opener last Saturday. This is the conference opener for Pitt, who is 2-0 following a 12-7 win over Central Florida.
But we learned more about the 2027 Syracuse football schedule on Wednesday, as the ACC released the home and away opponents for each school.
The Orange will have five home conference games next year vs. just four road games. The home opponents will be Boston College, Florida State, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Pitt.
The road games are Louisville, Stanford, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, though the Wake Forest game will be played in Toronto.

Caliber of opponents
Obviously, success or failure in one season isn't necessarily transferrable to the next, but the Orange seem to have done well in terms of getting winnable games.
SMU, Virginia, and Miami are all currently ranked in the Top 25. None of them are on the schedule for next year.
Florida State is a traditional power, but has really slumped over the last few years. Louisville is the one opponent that really stands out in this group, especially on the road.

Because of the nine-game league season, teams are destined to have an uneven amount of home and road games moving forward. Syracuse gets the advantage in 2027, and it seems to have an even bigger advantage given that one of the road games is in Toronto, which is likely to be a pro-Syracuse crowd.
The new league schedule
Remember, beginning this year, the league is going to this nine-game league schedule. In addition to that, teams have to play at least one Power Four conference (or Notre Dame) game in the non-league schedule. This is supposed to buoy the resume of conference teams and help solidify a solid position for the conference in the College Football playoff.
The Orange are playing Notre Dame this year, in addition to non-conference games against UConn and New Hampshire.
