The Orange will take on the Huskies on Saturday afternoon in East Hartford, looking to earn their second win of the season.
The Syracuse Orange football team will look to get back to its winning ways on Saturday afternoon (noon ET) when it takes on the UConn Huskies (2-2) in East Hartford, Conn.
SU enters play at 1-2 after a 27-13 loss against Pitt on Sept. 17, and the hope is that the 15-day break will help them get healthier, more effective at the quarterback position, and to clean up their penalty woes, where they are one of most penalized teams in the nation (36 in three games).
But the Orange are also looking to break a rather intense streak as well. They haven't had a win over an FBS program in more than a calendar year at this point.
The streak in review
The Orange began the 2025 season at 3-1 after beating ACC-rival Clemson on Sept. 20, 2025. However, things went downhill from there as the Orange lost starting quarterback Steve Angeli to a torn Achilles in that game.
They lost the next eight contests to close out the 2025 season at 3-9. The Orange began the 2026 season with a win over FCS New Hampshire, but have lost each of their two FBS games.

If Syracuse is going to get a win on Saturday, they are going to have to contend with a UConn team that has some dynamic players on offense, particularly in the run game. Quarterback Kalieb Osborne is a threat with his legs and running backs Kenji Christian and Cyncir Bowers are home run threats when they get the ball in their hands.
Defensive coordinator Vince Kehres will have his hands full trying to shut down the run game, but fortunately, he has knowledge of Christian and Osborne. Both played for Toledo last season, when Kehres was the defensive coordinator under Jason Candle.
Candle is now the head coach at UConn.
