The Orange will take the field on Saturday night at the JMA Wireless Dome (7:30 p.m. ET), and now we know how Fran Brown's team will line up.

Fans will get their first looks at the 2026 Syracuse football team on Saturday night when the team hosts its annual Spring Game at the JMA Wireless Dome (7:30 p.m. ET).

Our own Tom Goslowski will be at the Dome, and if you remember, Goz's top storyline for Saturday night was wanting to see how the quarterback reps would play out.

Would Steve Angeli play just seven months after rupturing his Achilles tendon? Which transfers have risen to the top of the depth chart at this point?

Well, head coach Fran Brown answered those questions on Friday night as the Orange put out their depth chart for the spring game.

And here's what we know:

Angeli won't play

This isn't really a surprise, is it? The probable starter in 2026 tore his Achilles in late September of 2025. He's been present at spring practice and has been throwing, but we haven't seen him do much in terms of mobility.

Jayson Tatum of the NBA's Boston Celtics took 10 months to come back from his Achilles, and he's still working himself back into top form. Was there ever really a point in bringing Angeli back this early?

Angeli had the Orange out to a 3-1 start last season, throwing for 10 touchdowns vs. just two interceptions. He threw for 1,317 yards.

Amari Odom is one QB1

Odom, the transfer from Kennesaw State, will helm the ship for the 'Orange team.' The teams seem to be split up relatively evenly, so it's not easy to tell if Odom is leading the "better team," but the fact that he's getting starter reps is noteworthy. That puts him in a position to enter the season as Angeli's backup and gives him a chance to at least push him for the starting job.

Odom comes to Syracuse with two years of eligibility after putting together a dynamite year at Kennesaw State. He threw for 2,594 yards and 19 touchdowns, also running for 347 yards. He completed 64.9 percent of his passes and also had eight interceptions.

Kennesaw State won 10 games and went 7-1 in Conference USA. They won the league title game over Jacksonville State.

Former top recruit is also a QB1

Malachi Nelson, who comes in from UTEP, is leading the 'blue team.'

The former top overall recruit in the country for the class of 2023, Nelson has played for three schools in three seasons.

He spent the 2023 season at Southern California, earning a redshirt after playing in just one game. He played three games in 2024 at Boise State, going 12-of-17 for 128 yards and an interception. And he played six games at UTEP in 2025, throwing to a 54.7 percent completion percentage with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions.

He also has two years of eligibility left for the Orange.
