The Orange have to get through the 2026 season first, but we're already learning more about their 2027 campaign, based on scheduling news that came out on Thursday.

After going 3-9 in 2025, the Syracuse football team is undoubtedly ready to fast forward to the 2026 campaign.

Armed with a new crop of exciting transfers and the return of starting quarterback Steve Angeli (injury), the arrow is pointing up for Fran Brown's team. The Orange should contend for a bowl game, and they hope to be in contention for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) championship as well.

But even before we've started play in the 2026 season, we're already getting some information about the 2027 season from reports that circulated on Thursday morning

As noted by Chris Carlson of Syracuse.com:

Get your passports ready! Syracuse football will open the 2027 season with an ACC game in Toronto. It's being counted as a Wake Forest home game. The Orange is currently scheduled to play Penn State the following week.

About the Week 0 matchup with Wake Forest

1) Given that this game in Toronto is being counted as a Wake Forest home game, it's good to see that the Orange aren't losing a home game off their JMA Wireless Dome schedule.

2) Given the distance from Wake Forest and the proximity to Syracuse, it's also likely that Syracuse has the crowd advantage even in the road contest.

3) Starting the season with an in-conference game is certainly exciting for fans, as it takes out some of the early season blowout contests typically reserved for FCS or low-major foes.

4) However, those games often provide an opportunity to work out the nerves of a football team, and starting with a league matchup puts immediate pressure on players as well.

As for the rest of the 2027 schedule?

Syracuse is currently set to play Penn State on Sept. 4, and they are set to play Connecticut on Nov. 6. There is also a scheduled game with Fordham.

It's unclear if those games against UConn and Fordham will have to be canceled as a result of new ACC scheduling policies that take effect this year.

--Speaking of schedules, the Syracuse men's basketball team is reportedly looking to play an exhibition contest against Siena this upcoming season. However, the game wouldn't take place in Syracuse, it would take place in Albany. Why? A handful of reasons.

1) Syracuse reportedly doesn't like staging exhibition games at home because of the high cost of doing so.

2) If Siena were to host the game, it would give the university a chance to properly honor Gerry McNamara, Gavin Doty, Francis Folefac and Tasman Goodrick. All four helped Siena make the NCAA Tournament this past season and the school would use the game as an opportunity to raise the MAAC championship banner at the MVP Arena.

--The Syracuse women's lacrosse team will play on Friday night against Loyala Maryland in the NCAA Tournament. You can read up more on the SU women here, thanks to Goslowski. The men will play Yale on Sunday (5 p.m. ET) at the Dome.

--Syracuse is set to hire Yulander Wells as the chief operating officer of the football program. Here's what that means.
