The offseason coaching churn just keeps going for the Syracuse University football team.
After a 3-9 season, head coach Fran Brown demoted or let go of several coaches, and recently, assistant defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson bolted for Texas A&M.
Brown has also made multiple good hires, including offensive line coach Juan Castillo and defensive coordinator Vince Kehres. He also brought in John Scott Jr., a defensive line coach from Clemson.
Now? It looks Syracuse is set to lose its quarterbacks coach. According to On3, Nunzio Campanile is departing for Connecticut to become the team's offensive coordinator.
Campanile just wrapped up his third season with the Orange, and he had much success in the first two.
As noted by the Syracuse website, in his first year quarterbacks broke or tied 24 different program individual and team passing or total offense records (career, season and single-game) and starting quarterback Kyle McCord finished in the top-10 of Heisman Trophy voting after setting a new ACC single-season passing record.
He also worked with quarterback Steve Angeli in 2024 as the Orange won 10 games and captured a Holiday Bowl victory.
However, this year, it was a different story. After Angeli got hurt in the fourth game of the season, the Orange failed to win another game. A rotating group of young quarterbacks all got chances, but none were really prepared to play. The Orange had one of the worst offenses in the country, and its 20.2 ppg total was outside the Top-100.
In addition to Syracuse, Campanile has served on staff at Rutgers. He was also the head coach of high school power Bergen Catholic and he was on staff at famed Don Basco Prep.

Well, it's pretty simple. If you believe that Campanile had a hand in the season's from McCord and Angeli, then the loss is substantial. In that case, you'd likely be writing off the offensive performance in 2025 as a result of Angeli's injury.
However, if you think that McCord's development at Ohio State and Angeli's at Notre Dame were the real causes of their success, then you may not think Campanile was all that integral a member of the staff.
If you think that, then you probably blame Campanile for failing to develop Rickie Follins, Luke Carney or Joseph Filardi this season.
The Huskies, who went 9-3 in the regular season, will play in the Fenway Bowl on Saturday afternoon (2:15 p.m. ET) against Army.
All-everything quarterback Joe Fagnano is set to graduate and new head coach Jason Candle will have his hands full trying to replace Fagano, running back Cam Edwards and All-American receiver Skyler Bell. Edwards is going to the transfer portal and Bell is graduating.
Campanile will be a major part of helping to do that, and we'll quickly learn just how good a quarterback developer he is.
Huskies head coach Jim Mora just left for Colorado State, which is why Candle now has the job. Ironically, Candle served as the head coach at Toledo in 2025. Kehres was his defensive coordinator, but he elected to join Fran Brown's staff in Central New York.
