Syracuse will open the 2026 football season on Sept. 5 against New Hampshire at home at the JMA Wireless Dome.
The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the full 2026 schedule for each of its 17 member teams on Monday night.
Against FCS program New Hampshire, Syracuse coach Fran Brown and his staff will hope to kick off the season with a positive start as their team attempts to improve upon a disappointing 3-9 record in 2025. Syracuse started 3-1 after an upset win over Clemson in Week 4, a game in which quarterback Steve Angeli suffered a torn left Achilles and was ruled out the rest of the season.
After Angeli’s injury, the Orange cycled through quarterbacks as they lost the final eight games of the 2025 campaign.
Angeli is expected back under center for the Orange this fall to face this schedule:

Syracuse faced seven of those teams in 2025. Their combined record against them was 2-5.
The Orange defeated UConn 27-20 in overtime and Clemson 34-21. The other win on the season was a 66-24 victory against FCS program Colgate.
Their five losses in this group came against SMU, Pitt, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Boston College by a combined score of 192-60.
Five Syracuse opponents from 2025 fell off the 2026 calendar: Tennessee, Colgate, ACC champion Duke, Georgia Tech and Miami, who finished as the national runner-up after losing to Indiana in the College Football Playoff title game a week ago.
They were replaced by New Hampshire, North Carolina State, Cal, Louisville and Virginia.
Syracuse will avoid some notable programs in addition to Miami – notably Florida State, attempting to rebound from a 5-7 season, and Virginia Tech, which made a high-profile coaching hire in James Franklin in the offseason.
The ACC is coming off a 9-5 record in postseason action, which tied for the most postseason victories in conference history.
Conference teams will begin play on Aug. 29 with a pair of international games.
NC State and Virginia will meet in a conference game in Rio de Janeiro in the first college football game in South America. Coach Bill Belichick and North Carolina will travel to Dublin to play TCU of the Big 12 that same day.
Under new conference scheduling rules, most teams – including Syracuse – will play nine conference games and 10 total games against power-conference teams beginning in 2026.
