Aiden Tobiason recently signed on with the Orange after previously starring at Temple.

Will Aiden Tobiason ever play for the Syracuse men's basketball team? That's what some Orange fans are asking after the latest news involving the recent transfer commit.

Tobiason is one of 44 college players who has been invited to the NBA's G League combine next week. According to the G League website

"It is a three-day event that gives NBA Draft prospects an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of NBA and NBA G League scouts, coaches and front-office executives. The athletes will participate separately in five-on-five games and strength and agility drills.

A select number of players from the draft-eligible group will be invited to participate in the NBA Draft Combine later on in the week based on their performance in the NBA G League Elite Camp"

This year's event will be held May 8-10.

Tobiason's future

The 6'5' Delaware native committed to the Orange from the transfer portal last month.

Previously, Tobiason played for the Temple Owls, starting 32 games in 2025-26 while posting 15.3 points per game. He also added 3.7 rebounds and two assists per game.

Although he logged less action and posted lower statistics during his freshman season, Tobiason was still named as a member of the All-Freshman team in the American Athletic Conference.

Players like Tobiason have until May 27 to withdraw from the pre-draft process while maintaining college eligibility.

With a total of 73 players already invited to the NBA combine and 44 others hoping to get an invite via the G League combine, it seems unlikely Tobiason would forego college and play professionally. No national mock drafts have projected the likely Orange forward to be picked in either the first or second round of June's NBA Draft.

As our own Brady Farkas shared last month, Tobiason could have a strong impact for Gerry McNamara and the Orange this season.

Syracuse recent NBA draft history

The Orange are currently riding a program record five consecutive seasons without making the NCAA tournament. The lack of postseason action mirrors that the lack of success in having players selected in the NBA Draft.

No SU alums were invited to the NBA Combine.

The most recent Orange player to be picked in the NBA Draft was Elijah Hughes in 2020. Hughes was drafted in the second round by the New Orleans Pelicans, but was quickly traded to the Utah Jazz. Hughes played 54 total games in the NBA both with the Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers.

The New York state native played professionally last season in Germany.
