This marks the fourth player to announce their intention to test the portal this April.

The Syracuse women's basketball team will now have at least four players test the waters of the NCAA transfer portal.

On Friday, Orange player Shy Hawkins took to social media to announce her intentions to enter the portal.

As a reminder: Simply entering the portal does not guarantee that a player will leave, but it certainly means it's likely.

Here's what you need to know:

Hawkins' sophomore season in 2025-2026 resulted in her seeing action in 32 games, including 17 starts. The 6'2' New York Native averaged 5.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. Hawkins signed with Syracuse out of William Floyd High School in Long Island where she was a four-star recruit and ranked as a top 80 prospect in the country. In two seasons with the Orange, Hawkins averaged 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Hawkins will enter the portal with two seasons left of eligibility.

Hawkins joins three other fellow Orange teammates who have recently announced their intentions to enter the portal. The portal officially opens on Monday following Sunday's national championship game.

Sophie Burrows

Burrows is the most impactful transfer of the four players thus far. A team captain in 25-26, the Australian started 61 of the past 62 games for Syracuse. In three seasons with the Orange, the 6'2' Burrows averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. The significant contributor was also named the ACC's Scholar Athlete of the Year. Burrows will enter the portal with one season of eligibility remaining.

Justus Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald was the first to announce her intentions to enter the portal in March. The first-year from Roswell, Ga. played in 11 games this past season. The 6'1' forward averaged 2.0 points and 2.1 rebounds. Fitzgerald will have three years of college eligibility remaining.

Maddy Potts

Potts has appeared in 47 games over the past two seasons for the Orange. The 6'0' guard averaged 3.2 points per game during her two year tenure at Syracuse. The Australia native played a combined 27 minutes in the Orange's two NCAA Tournament games last month. Potts will have two seasons remaining of eligibility. Potts posted this message on Instagram to announce her departure.

Syracuse's 2025-2026 season

The Orange finished this past season with a 24-9 overall record and a 12-6 record in ACC play. Syracuse qualified for an NCAA tournament berth and won a first round game over Iowa State 72-63. Syracuse's season ended in the Round of 32 with a blowout loss to the top-seeded UConn Huskies 98-45.

Final Four action and national championship

The Huskies will compete in Friday night's Final Four contest against South Carolina. In the other semifinal matchup, UCLA will take on Texas. The winners of both games will tip- off on Sunday night to crown this season's national champion.
