A four-star New York prospect announced her intentions to sign with the Orange on Friday night.
Syracuse Orange women's basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack and her staff were patiently waiting on Friday night to find out the intentions of four-star recruit Josephine Pinnock.
Pinnock announced earlier in the week that she would make her college decion Friday night, and she did shortly after 7 p.m. ET.
Where will Josephine Pinnock play in college?
In front of her friends, family, and media members at Christ The King High School, Pinnock announced that she will continue career at the college level for Syracuse.
Pinnock's final four choices were Syracuse, Seton Hall, Hofstra, and Stony Brook. In choosing Syracuse, she obviously passed over two other schools in New York (Hofstra and Stony Brook).
The Josephine Pinnock File
A 5-foot-10 point guard from Christ The King High School in Middle Village, N.Y., Pinnock is considered one of the best players in New York State.
Last season as a junior, Pinnock was named the New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association AAA player of the year. She averaged 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists.
In July, Pinnock shared via social media that she had visited Syracuse and met with the program's staff. Pinnock was offered a scholarship during her visit to Central New York.
What does commitment Pinnock mean for the program?
The verbal commitment from Pinnock serves as a tremendous boost for the Orange program. Not only is she a good player, but the hope is that Syracuse can continue to keep New York players in New York. For instance, the men's team is trying to do the same thing. And they've succeeded, getting both Kiyan Anthony and recent commitment Moussa Kamissoko from Long Island Lutheran. There are others as well, including Jack Donohue from Albany.
Pinnock will finish her senior season and will be considered a top player in the Orange's Class of 2027.
Pinnock has until April 14, 2027 to officially sign with the Orange. The April date is a date set by the NCAA for all Division I basketball commits.
What does the Syracuse roster look like for the 2027-28 season?
Projecting a roster more than one year out in college sports is becoming much more difficult. The transfer portal has allowed more freedom for athletes to explore other opportunities at other schools. If all the first and second-year players decide to return to Syracuse for the 2027-28 season, the roster with Pinnock could look like this:
Keira Scott, Shy Hawkins, Emely Rodriguez, Olivia Schmitt, (senior)
Uche Izoje (junior)
Celaine Ricoo, Destiny Robinson and Madison Howard, Elif Cayir (sophomore)
Josephine Pinnock (first year)
