The SU forward and New York City native was just like the rest of us as the Knicks came back from a 29-point deficit in the NBA Finals.
The New York Knicks moved one win closer to their first NBA championship in more than 50 years on Wednesday, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 at Madison Square Garden.
With the win, the Knicks now lead the Spurs 3-1 in the best-of-seven series.
Not only did the Knicks win, they did so in dramatic fashion, overcoming a 29-point deficit to complete the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history. A tip-in with 1.2 seconds sealed the victory for New York and put the Spurs on the brink of elimination.
In attendance at the Garden to see it? None other than Syracuse men's basketball standout Kiyan Anthony.
The New York City native is a Knicks fan, and he couldn't contain himself after the game in an on-court interview with possible No. 1 draft pick AJ Dybantsa.
While we can't confirm this, it's easy to imagine that Anthony is a Knick fan after watching his father Carmelo star for the franchise for seven seasons. Carmelo never took the Knicks to the NBA Finals but he did make the playoffs three times. Anthony made the All-Star Game in each of his six full seasons with the Knicks, averaging 24.7 ppg in those years.
A 19-year veteran in total, Carmelo Anthony was a 10-time All-Star, a six-time All-NBA selection, a scoring champion and a multi-time Olympic gold medalist. He was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 2025.
Carmelo also spent one season playing at Syracuse, helping the Orange win their lone national title in 2003. On that team, he played with current SU head coach Gerry McNamara, who was hired this past March.
Game 5 of the NBA Finals is on Saturday night in San Antonio.

Miles Robinson will take the pitch for Team USA while Tajon Buchanan will play for Canada. It's Buchanan's second time representing his nation in the tournament.

--After losing a pair of running backs from the Class of 2027 this week, the Syracuse football program is on the hunt for a new group of backs. The Orange have six running backs on the current roster, all of who can return to school in 2027.
