The Orange are coming off a 42-41 win against UConn and are back inside league play this weekend against Virginia.

Each week throughout the college football regular season, SyracuseRoundtable will bring you the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) power rankings.

The rankings will help give a clearer picture as to how the top teams in the conference stack up against one another. In December, the top two teams will compete in Charlotte, N.C., not for just the conference title, but a berth in the College Football Playoff.

This past weekend's worth of games marked the most exciting so far when it came to games within the conference. Which teams have the best chance to qualify for the conference title game, and where does Syracuse football rank as they gear up for their first conference game in nearly a month?

No. 1 Miami

The Hurricanes were tested early by Clemson, but proved to be too strong in a 41-13 victory. The Tigers were only down 17-6 at halftime, but Miami, led by Darian Mensah and Malachi Tone,y proved once again that they look to be the team to beat in the ACC. The Hurricanes still have matchups with Duke and Pittsburgh, two new additions to our top five list.

No. 2 SMU

Last week, the Mustangs barely hung on to a top five spot in our rankings with a less-than- impressive 34-24 win over Missouri State. This week, SMU jumps all the way up to the second spot after losses by all three teams previously ahead of them in the rankings (Virginia, Virginia Tech and Louisville). SMU defeated Boston College by double-digits on Saturday. SMU's biggest test comes against Virginia Tech on Nov. 6.

No. 3 Duke

The defending ACC champions make their first season appearance in our top five. Duke remains undefeated on the season. The Blue Devils could have the best path to the ACC conference title game and perhaps could be 10-0 when they face Miami in November. Even with a loss, Duke's resume could give them a spot, depending on tie-breakers, in the ACC championship.

No. 4 Pittsburgh

The Panthers crack our top five for the first time this season and they are also in the AP Top 25 poll. The reason I rank Pittsburgh lower than Duke is because of the uncertainty at the quarterback position moving forward.

No. 5 Virginia Tech

How differently do we view the Hokies if the controversial kick goes in against Pittsburgh? Some on the internet believe it did! The Hokies blew a big home lead on Friday night, and the loss could hurt James Franklin and his squad's chances of getting to Charlotte.
