Seven players entered their name into the portal last month, but have all the departing members of the Orange found a new home yet?
Despite making the NCAA Tournament - and winning a game - in 2025-26, the Syracuse women's basketball program had seven players enter their names into the transfer portal when it opened in early April. Where did those players end up? Here is the latest update involving the (former) members of Felisha Legette-Jack's program.
Shy Hawkins
Despite entering her name into the portal, Hawkins will be the only one of the seven players returning to Central New York for the upcoming season. Hawkins announced her decision to return to Syracuse on Instagram on April 17.
Last season, Hawkins saw action in 32 games, including 17 starts. The 6'2' New York native averaged 5.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. Hawkins signed with Syracuse out of William Floyd High School in Long Island where she was a four-star recruit and ranked as a top-80 prospect in the country. In two seasons with the Orange, Hawkins has averaged 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Aurora Almon
Before joining Syracuse, the 6'4' forward from the Dominican Republic spent her first two seasons as a member of the Miami Hurricanes. Almon played in 29 games and started four. Almon averaged 1.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Almon has signed with the Florida Gators.
Sophie Burrows
A former team captain, the Australian started 61 of the past 62 games for the Orange. In three seasons with Syracuse, the 6'2' Burrows averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. The Atlantic Coast Conference's Scholar Athlete of the Year, Burrows will play her final collegiate season in the ACC, but this time as a member of the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Jasmyn Cooper and Camdyn Nelson
In her first and final season with the Orange, Cooper averaged 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. Camdyn Nelson, a first-year guard from Connecticut, appeared n 19 games, averaging 1.4 points and 1.4 rebounds. The 5'8' Nelson was a highly touted recruit but only started in three games for the Orange. Both Cooper and Nelson will head to the Big Ten Conference and play for the Northwestern Wildcats.
Justus Fitzgerald
The first-year from Roswell, Ga. was the first player to announce her intentions to leave the program in April. Fitzgerald played in just 11 games this past season. The 6'1' forward averaged 2.0 points and 2.1 rebounds. She has signed with Hampton.
Maddy Potts
Potts appeared in 47 games over the past two seasons for the Orange. The 6'0' guard averaged 3.2 points per game during her two-year tenure at Syracuse. The Australia native played a combined 27 minutes in the Orange's two NCAA Tournament games last month. Potts will head to Philadelphia and play for the St. Joseph's Hawks.
