The Orange find themselves near the bottom again in this week's conference power rankings. They'll take on Louisville on Saturday night.

Each week throughout the college football regular season, SyracuseRoundtable will bring you the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) power rankings.

The rankings will help give a clearer picture as to how the top teams in the conference stack up against one another. In December, the top two teams will compete in Charlotte, N.C., not for just the conference title, but a berth in the College Football Playoff.

We have a new entry into this week's top five spots. Plus, we are nearly at the halfway point of the season, meaning we are getting closer to the coveted ACC title game. Unfortunately for Orange fans, Syracuse could end the season ranked last among the conference teams. And one year after going 3-9, that's not what fans were hoping to see.

No. 1 Miami

No team has even been truly close to competing with the Hurricanes this season. Miami has moved into the No. 3 spot nationally following a loss by previously unbeaten Texas. If Miami enters the ACC championship game undefeated, the Hurricanes would likely be heading to the College Football Playoff even if they lose the December matchup in Charlotte.

No. 2 SMU

SMU's lone loss to Louisville could prevent them from playing in Charlotte. The Mustangs have a path back to an ACC championship game, but their toughest test now is projected to come on Nov. 14 against Wake Forest. SMU has a tough matchup this weekend against Virginia, who just beat Syracuse 28-25.

No. 3 Wake Forest

The most surprising team so far this season has proven to be the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest's lone ACC loss came to Miami on a Friday night, 33-20. Since then, Wake has won three ACC games in a row. Wake's success could lead them to a rematch against Miami in two months.

No. 4 Clemson

The Tigers have found some consistency in the month of October. Their two losses have both been to nationally ranked teams (one being the Miami Hurricanes). Clemson is projected to be favored in its five remaining ACC games. A one-loss conference season could get Clemson back in the championship game for the third time in the last five years.

No. 5 Virginia

Virginia overcame a double-digit deficit (17-7) to beat the Orange, but they didn't look impressive for most of the weekend. Luckily for them, some others on this list also didn't.

No. 6 Pittsburgh

No. 7 Louisville

No. 8 Florida State

No. 9 North Carolina

No. 10 Virginia Tech

No. 11 Georgia Tech

No. 12 Duke

No. 13 California

No. 14 North Carolina State

No. 15 Stanford

No. 16 Boston College

No. 17 Syracuse

For the first time this season, we have moved Syracuse to the last spot in the rankings. The future of the quarterback position is now even more difficult to figure out after injuries to backup Amari Odom and third-stringer Malachi Nelson. Those injuries go along with former starter Steve Angeli's injury. With a current double-digit losing streak in conference dating back to last season, the Orange will need to show they can win in the conference before we can move them out of the 17 spot.

What ACC matchups are taking place this weekend?
