After getting to the NCAA Tournament and winning a game in the Round of 64 in 2025-26, the Syracuse Orange women's basketball team has a pretty good recent history.
Orange head coach Felisha Legette-Jack has been able to build Syracuse as a consistent contender for tournament play, so there's also considerable excitement around the present 2026-27 squad. However, the recruiting never stops in Division I athletics, so the staff is simultaneously also looking for players to contribute for the future too.
That future could get even brighter on Friday night, as the Orange are waiting for the official word from four-star prospect Josephine Pinnock.

A 5-foot-10 point guard from Christ The King High School in Middle Village, N.Y., Pinnock is considered one of the best players in New York State.
Last season as a junior, Pinnock was named the New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association AAA player of the year. She averaged 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists.
In July, Pinnock shared via social media that she had visited Syracuse and met with the program's staff. Pinnock was offered a scholarship during her visit to Central New York.
When will the decision be made by Pinnock?
Pinnock shared on her personal Instagram page that she will announce her college decision on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET at Christ The King High School.
Pinnock's final four choices are: Syracuse, Seton Hall, Hofstra, and Stony Brook.
What would signing Pinnock mean for the program?
The potential signing of Pinnock would serve as a tremendous boost for the Orange program. If Syracuse is able to continue to land top prospects from New York State, the hope is that future Empire State athletes will continue to Syracuse for their careers.
While Pinnock is considering two other New York based schools, Stony Brook and Hofstra do not play in a Power Four conference, which should be noted. If Pinnock wants to play at the highest level, Syracuse is the clear best fit for that.
