The Orange roster had another player enter her name on Monday as the portal officially opened.
The NCAA women's basketball transfer portal officially opened on Monday and already, Syracuse has five players testing the process. The latest member to declare her entry is Camdyn "Cam" Nelson.
Nelson, a first year guard from Connecticut, finished the season appearing in 19 games and averaging 1.4 points and 1.4 rebounds. The 5'8' Nelson was a highly touted recruit but only started in three games this past season. Nelson shared the message of her intent to leave the program on her Instagram page.
As a reminder: Just because a player enters the portal doesn't mean they are guaranteed to leave, but it certainly is likely.
What other players are leaving the program?
The Orange roster has now reached eight players who will likely not return next season. Laila Phelia, Oyindamola Akinbolawa and Journey Thompson leave the program because of graduation. Dominique Darius' future is still uncertain. Darius is requesting another season of eligibility from the NCAA as she redshirted in the 24-25 season.
Nelson joins four former teammates below who have also entered their names into the portal.
Sophie Burrows
Burrows still seems to be the most impactful transfer of the five players thus far. A team captain last season, the Australian started 61 of the past 62 games for the Orange. In three seasons with Syracuse, the 6'2' Burrows averaged 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. The significant contributor was also named the ACC's Scholar Athlete of the Year. Burrows enters the portal with one season of eligibility remaining.
Justus Fitzgerald
Fitzgerald was the first to announce her intentions to enter the portal last month. The first-year from Roswell, Ga. played in 11 games this past season. The 6'1' forward averaged 2.0 points and 2.1 rebounds. Fitzgerald will have three years of college eligibility remaining.

Hawkins' sophomore season in 2025-2026 resulted in her seeing action in 32 games, including 17 starts. The 6'2' New York native averaged 5.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. Hawkins signed with Syracuse out of William Floyd High School in Long Island where she was a four-star recruit and ranked as a top 80 prospect in the country. In two seasons with the Orange, Hawkins averaged 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Hawkins will enter the portal with two seasons left of eligibility.
Maddy Potts
Potts has appeared in 47 games over the past two seasons for the Orange. The 6'0' guard averaged 3.2 points per game during her two year tenure at Syracuse. The Australia native played a combined 27 minutes in the Orange's two NCAA Tournament games last month. Potts will have two seasons remaining of eligibility.
