Multiple players this season are wearing numbers hanging in the JMA Wireless Dome rafters.
The Syracuse men's basketball roster looks to be finalized for the upcoming season, and now each member of the roster has a corresponding uniform uniform. In a social media video posted by the Syracuse basketball X account, each player's number was revealed on Monday.

Guards: #7 Kiyan Anthony, #23 Noah Lobdell, #4 Gavin Doty, #25 Aiden Tobiason, #3 Garwey Dual, #0 Ryan Moesch, #2 Ethan Butler

Goz's issue with some selections
Players like Garwey Dual, Gavin Doty and Sadiq White are wearing numbers that hang in the rafters in the JMA Wireless Dome in honor of former players. In fact, Dual is wearing his own coach's (Gerry McNamara) former number, which is one of the many that has been honored by the program. White is wearing Hakim Warrick's No. 1 and Gavin Doty is wearing No. 4, previously worn by Rony Seiklay.
I would like to see players select numbers that are not already honored by the school. In 2024, former Syracuse player Derrick Coleman spoke publicly about the problem he had with then-Syracuse center Eddie Lampkin wearing his former number 44.

Syracuse's policy on "honored jerseys" not "retired numbers"
Syracuse's phrasing on honoring the past players is "retiring the jersey" and not "retiring the number." Last season, the school used that phrase when Jim Lee and Rudy Hackett had their jerseys retired by the school.
This season, Abdramane Siby will wear Lee's number No. 10. However, some numbers have yet to be worn again, including Carmelo Anthony's No. 15.
A more universal understanding of what number players can and can not wear would help avoid potential drama in the future.
New NCAA rule change should factor in
For the 2023-24 season, the NCAA passed a proposed rule change that allowed players to wear numbers featuring digits 6-9 along with the previous 0-5. The new rule, in this case, allowed Syracuse players to open up a whole new array of number options.
