Syracuse football lost two commits in its Class of 2027 on Tuesday.
Decommitting from the Orange were Davion Crumitie, a speedster from Tallahassee, Fla., and Stanley Montgomery, a defensive lineman from Philadelphia who took a recent visit to Penn State.
Crumitie’s social media pages share numerous offers from Power Four programs, offers that have come in since he committed to head coach Fran Brown and the Orange last Sept. 9.
Crumitie is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 31 athlete in the country. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Crumitie plays wide receiver and safety for Rickards High School.
With the new interest from schools in the Big Ten, Southeastern Conference and beyond, Crumitie decided to investigate the opportunities at other schools.
“I have decommitted from Syracuse,” Crumitie told Rivals. “I’ve been thinking about it for a while -- since December. The reason I decommitted was just wanting to open back up and look at all of my options. I want to see different places.
“Coach Brown is one of the best in college football, and I have all love for him, but I want to find the best spot for me.”

Brown and the Orange will have plenty of competition for him, however.
“Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Kansas, Mississippi State, Maryland and UCF are really recruiting me hard right now,” Crumitie told Rivals on Tuesday. “I hear from them a lot.”
He additionally told Rivals what he wants from the school he chooses:
“What I’m looking for in a school is a good relationship with the coaching staff first,” he said. “Then it is a great education and the fastest way to get on the field.”
Whichever school he commits to will be putting speed on the field.
In the Sunshine Showcase held in Florida Jan. 24 and 25, he ran a 6.80 in the 60 meters, good for second place. He won the 200 with a time of 21.16.
As for Montgomery, he is from Archbishop Ryan in Philadelphia. The three-star recruit committed to Syracuse last June 22 after attending camp there.
"After much thought and consideration and taking time talking with my family I've decided to make the hard decision of decommitting from Syracuse University and reopening my recruitment," Montgomery posted to X on Tuesday night. "I want to thank coach Fran and the rest of the staff for taking the time to recruit me. I'm excited to see what the future holds with the reopening of my recruitment."
Since his original commitment, Syracuse has a new defensive coordinator and line coach.
Syracuse has eight commits in a class that is ranked No. 7 nationally by the 247Sports composite at this very early stage of the recruiting cycle.
