Oklahoma's powerful offense ignited Globe Life Field, silencing No. 10 TCU's bats in a dominant 12-2 run-rule victory.

ARLINGTON - No. 10 TCU baseball ran into a red-hot Oklahoma lineup Sunday night, suffering its first loss of the season in a 12-2 run-rule defeat at Globe Life Field.

The Horned Frogs (2-1) were limited to four hits on the evening and couldn’t overcome a series of two-out rallies that flipped momentum early and never gave it back.

Oklahoma struck first, plating two runs in the opening frame. TCU answered in the second inning when Lucas Franco worked a leadoff walk and later came around to score.

Rob Liddington delivered a base hit to push Franco into scoring position, and Nolan Traeger brought him home with a sacrifice fly to trim the deficit to 2-1.

That would be as close as the Frogs would get.

The Sooners capitalized on opportunities late in innings, scoring five of their 12 runs with two outs. A two-run homer in the second created breathing room, and Oklahoma extended the lead in the fourth with a string of disciplined at-bats that included a hit-by-pitch, a walk and a pair of run-scoring doubles.

By the time the fifth inning ended, the Sooners had built an 11-1 cushion.

TCU scratched across one final run in the sixth. Sawyer Strosnider opened the inning with a single - extending his on-base streak to 19 games dating back to last season - and advanced to third on a double from Chase Brunson.

A wild pitch allowed Strosnider to cross the plate and make it 11-2.

On the mound, Lance Davis made his collegiate debut as the starting pitcher. The freshman right-hander worked three innings, allowing four runs on five hits while walking two and striking out one.

Ethan Thomas also made his first appearance in a TCU uniform in relief, while Tyler Phenow logged his second career outing - both coming at Globe Life Field.

Defensively, the Frogs turned one double play but committed three errors, their highest total of the young season.

Despite the setback, there were bright spots. Brunson, Liddington and Franco have now reached base safely in all three games this season, signaling early consistency at the plate.

TCU will look to bounce back Tuesday night when it wraps up its stay in Arlington against UT Arlington.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m., as the Horned Frogs aim to regroup and continue building momentum early in the 2026 college baseball season.
