TCU Basketball Stuns No. 10 Texas Tech As Xavier Edmonds Powers NCAA Push cover image

Xavier Edmonds posts 20 points and 12 rebounds as TCU upsets No. 10 Texas Tech, boosting the Horned Frogs’ NCAA Tournament hopes.

The TCU basketball team delivered another statement in its late-season surge Tuesday night, knocking off No. 10 Texas Tech 73-65 in Lubbock to strengthen the Horned Frogs’ NCAA Tournament resume.

At the center of the upset was Xavier Edmonds, who dominated inside with 20 points and 12 rebounds, controlling the paint when TCU needed it most.

His clutch putback layup with 31 seconds remaining effectively sealed the victory, pushing the Horned Frogs’ lead to six and silencing the home crowd.

The win continued a remarkable stretch for TCU.

The Horned Frogs have now won seven of their last eight games, turning what once looked like a shaky postseason outlook into a serious March push.

Even more impressive, Tuesday’s result marked TCU’s third victory over a top-10 opponent this season, proving the Frogs can beat elite competition when the stakes are high.

TCU’s supporting cast stepped up in key moments. Micah Robinson added 15 points, while Jayden Pierre chipped in 14, helping balance the offense throughout the night.

Although leading scorer David Punch struggled with foul trouble and finished with just six points, he still made his presence felt by grabbing 10 rebounds.

The game turned midway through the second half.

With the score tied at 50, Edmonds calmly sank two free throws to put TCU ahead for good. From there, the Frogs kept applying pressure, eventually stretching the lead after Liutauras Lelevicius buried a 3-pointer with just over two minutes remaining.

Texas Tech fought back behind Donovan Atwell, who led the Red Raiders with 19 points and five 3-pointers, extending his school-record total to 115 made threes this season.

Jaylen Petty added 17 points, and standout guard Christian Anderson finished with 11 points and nine assists, but it wasn’t enough to stop TCU’s momentum.

For Texas Tech, the loss snapped a three-game winning streak as the team continues adjusting to life without injured star J.T. Toppin, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury.

Meanwhile, TCU’s postseason hopes continue to rise. With momentum building and confidence growing, the Horned Frogs suddenly look like one of the most dangerous teams heading toward March.
