TCU Basketball Survives Oklahoma State 95-92 in Overtime Showdown cover image

The Frogs snatch a thrilling overtime win on the road, showcasing grit and balanced scoring.

TCU basketball proved Saturday night it can win a grinder on the road.

The Horned Frogs never fell behind but still needed overtime to finish off Oklahoma State, escaping Gallagher-Iba Arena with a 95-92 victory.

The win pushes TCU to 16-9 overall and 6-6 in Big 12 play, while marking the program’s first single-overtime triumph since January 2022.

David Punch led the way with 19 points, his 11th time pacing the Frogs in scoring this season. He was steady at the free-throw line, converting 6-of-7 attempts, and helped anchor a balanced offensive effort that featured six players in double figures.

Xavier Edmonds continued his dominant stretch in the paint, recording 15 points and 10 rebounds for his sixth double-double in the last seven games. The Horned Frogs also received 18 points from Jayden Pierre, who knocked down four of his five attempts from beyond the arc.

Pierre logged a career-high 43 minutes and added four assists and two blocks in a do-it-all performance.

TCU set the tone early, hitting five of its first seven 3-point shots and finishing 12-of-25 from long range. The Frogs built a nine-point cushion multiple times, including a 66-57 advantage midway through the second half.

But Oklahoma State wouldn’t fade. The Cowboys shot 50.8 percent from the field and hit 10 3-pointers of their own. Parsa Fallah was a force inside, finishing with 27 points.

TCU appeared poised to win in regulation when Liutauras Lelevicius split a pair of free throws with 6.5 seconds remaining to make it 84-82. However, after a missed 3-pointer from Jaylen Curry, Fallah grabbed the offensive rebound and scored to tie the game.

In overtime, the Frogs responded with poise. They scored seven of the first nine points in the extra session, building a 93-87 lead after Brock Harding’s free throws with 1:35 to play. Harding finished with 13 points, including 3-of-5 shooting from deep.

Oklahoma State trimmed the margin to one, but Micah Robinson answered with a driving layup in the final seconds. Curry’s last-second 3-pointer fell short, sealing the win.

Tanner Toolson added 11 points off the bench, and TCU won the rebounding battle 39-36. The Frogs committed just eight turnovers - their eighth game this season with 10 or fewer - improving to 14-1 when outrebounding opponents.

TCU now heads to UCF on Tuesday, aiming to build momentum in a tightly contested Big 12 race.
