TCU baseball shut out UCF 6-0 as Lance Davis spun seven scoreless innings and Lucas Franco, Colton Griffin powered the Frogs at the plate.

TCU baseball answered in a big way Saturday night. With the series on the line and one of the Big 12’s hottest teams in the other dugout, the Horned Frogs rode a dominant start from Lance Davis and timely offense to a 6-0 win over UCF at Lupton Stadium.

The result not only evened the weekend set, but it also gave TCU one of its cleanest all-around performances of the season.

The story started on the mound. Davis delivered exactly the kind of outing TCU needed, carving through the UCF lineup for seven scoreless innings.

He gave up only two hits, walked two, struck out five, and never allowed the Knights to build any real momentum. UCF barely threatened all night, with just one runner reaching third base. For a staff looking for a tone-setter, Davis was it.

At the plate, TCU didn’t waste chances. The Frogs grabbed control in the opening inning when aggressive baserunning produced the game’s first run.

They added another in the second, then broke things open in the fifth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Colton Griffin forced in a run with a walk before Lucas Franco followed with a two-run single that pushed the lead to 5-0.

That was more than enough support, but TCU kept pressing. Griffin drove in another run later on a squeeze play, giving him two RBIs on the night. Franco also finished with two runs driven in, continuing a strong showing for an offense that made the most of pressure situations.

Three of TCU’s six runs came with two outs, a sign of an offense finally cashing in when it had to.

The defense helped finish the job, too. TCU played error-free baseball, turned a double play, stole four bases, and got two scoreless innings from Walter Quinn to lock down the shutout.

Now the Frogs are back to 13-9 overall and 2-3 in Big 12 play, with a chance to grab the series Sunday. After a win like this, the energy has clearly shifted.
