TCU baseball erased an early five-run hole to beat Lamar 8-6, extending its win streak to five games behind hot bats and improving bullpen work.
TCU baseball kept its hot streak rolling Tuesday night, and the latest win said plenty about where this team is headed.
The Horned Frogs beat Lamar 8-6 after falling into an early 5-0 hole, stretching their win streak to five games and continuing the offensive surge that’s changing the tone of their season.
That’s the headline for TCU baseball right now.
The bats are alive, the confidence is growing, and the Frogs are starting to look more and more like a real Big 12 contender.
Lamar jumped all over TCU early, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding another to put the Frogs in a deep hole. But once TCU settled in, the entire game flipped.
From the fourth inning on, the Horned Frogs controlled the action and showed the kind of lineup depth that can wear opponents down in a hurry.
TCU finished with 11 hits, drew nine walks, and kept traffic on the bases all night. Noah Franco, Cole Cramer, and Brady Dallimore each delivered two hits, while Sawyer Strosnider stayed scorching hot by reaching base multiple times and driving in a run with a key double.
Chase Brunson added a momentum-swinging triple that brought home two, and Jack Bell continued his strong stretch by reaching base.
On the mound, it was a rough beginning before the bullpen took control.
Freshman Cade Nelson struggled in the start, but TCU got a stabilizing performance from Nolan Johnson, who covered three innings and helped calm the game down.
Aiden Barrientes followed with an encouraging outing in relief, and Kade Durnin, Walter Quinn, and Nate Stern closed the door.
Stern’s final inning, highlighted by three strikeouts, was another reminder of how dependable he’s become.
TCU now heads to Kansas State playing confident baseball, and with this offense clicking, the Frogs look increasingly dangerous.
