TCU baseball enters Selection Monday on the NCAA Tournament bubble, hoping its Big 12 résumé is enough to survive a nervous bracket reveal.
TCU baseball is about to find out whether its season still has a pulse.
After a rough Big 12 Tournament exit, the Horned Frogs enter Selection Monday stuck in the most uncomfortable place in college baseball ... the NCAA Tournament bubble.
Kirk Saarloos’ team isn’t safely in. It isn’t clearly out. It’s living in that nasty gray area where every RPI number, Quad 1 win and projection suddenly feels like life or death.
The NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Selection Show airs at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN2, when the full 64-team bracket will be revealed.
TCU’s case is messy, but it’s real.
The Frogs sit at 33-21 overall with a 17-13 Big 12 record, a No. 46 RPI, No. 56 strength of schedule and six Quad 1 wins.
That’s not a flawless résumé, especially after missed chances late in the season and a quick exit in Arizona. But it’s also not a resume the committee can casually ignore.
The biggest issue is momentum. TCU limped into the bracket conversation with injuries piling up and an offense that went quiet at the worst possible time.
Instead of locking up a bid in the Big 12 Tournament, the Frogs left themselves waiting and sweating.
Still, context matters.
The Big 12 was tough, and TCU’s league record should carry weight. The Frogs are likely battling programs like UTSA and Troy for one of the final at-large spots, and several national projections have kept TCU barely inside the field.
Others have the Frogs out, which tells you exactly how thin the margin is.
If TCU gets in, don’t expect a soft landing. A trip to a brutal regional - possibly somewhere like Hattiesburg, Fayetteville, Austin or Auburn - feels realistic. But at this point, the destination almost doesn’t matter.
Just hearing its name would be the win.

TCU has enough talent to be dangerous if it gets healthier and finds its offense again. But first, the Frogs need the committee to decide their full-season resume outweighs their shaky finish.
Selection Monday will either extend the ride or end it cold.
