TCU opens Big 12 play at Houston on Jan. 2 before hosting Arizona State and Texas Tech as Jamie Dixon’s rebuilt roster faces a demanding 18-game slate.
FORT WORTH - TCU basketball now knows exactly what its Big 12 path will look like in 2027, and the Horned Frogs won’t get much time to ease into conference play.
Jamie Dixon’s team opens the league schedule Jan. 2 at Houston, then returns to Fort Worth for back-to-back home games against Arizona State on Jan. 5 and Texas Tech on Jan. 9.
The 18-game Big 12 schedule runs through March 6, when TCU closes the regular season at home against UCF.
The early stretch is demanding. After the Texas Tech game, TCU travels to Cincinnati on Jan. 12 and Kansas State on Jan. 16 before hosting Baylor on Jan. 19.
That sequence is part of a schedule featuring three separate two-game road swings. The others come at Arizona State and Arizona on Feb. 6 and Feb. 8, followed by a late-season trip to Iowa State on Feb. 27 and West Virginia on March 3.
The Arizona matchup on Feb. 8 is scheduled for ESPN’s Big Monday showcase.
TCU’s home schedule also includes BYU, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Utah and Kansas, giving the Horned Frogs several marquee opportunities inside Schollmaier Arena.
The program enters the season with significant roster turnover. TCU returns just five players from last year’s team and brings in 10 newcomers for Dixon’s 11th season as head coach.
That makes chemistry one of the biggest questions entering a schedule that won’t offer many soft spots.
“We’ve got a lot of new guys,” Dixon said earlier this offseason. “The challenge is getting them to play together quickly.”
TCU is coming off its best Big 12 finish in program history after going 11-7 in conference play and finishing sixth. The Horned Frogs have also reached the NCAA Tournament in four of the past five seasons.
The Big 12 remains one of the deepest leagues in college basketball. Eight conference teams reached the 2026 NCAA Tournament, three advanced to the Sweet 16 and Arizona reached the Final Four.
The 2027 Big 12 Tournament is scheduled for March 9-13 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.
For TCU, the message is straightforward: there’s enough returning momentum to expect another postseason push, but with a mostly new roster, the Horned Frogs will have to grow up quickly once January arrives.
