The veteran wideout's comeback provides a seasoned weapon for Jaden Craig just as Big 12 play demands an explosive offensive spark against increasingly formidable conference opponents.
Jordan Dwyer could be making his long-awaited return to the TCU football lineup at an important time for the Horned Frogs.
After missing the first three games of the 2026 season with a foot injury, the veteran wide receiver is expected to be back on the field when TCU opens Big 12 play against UCF on Sept. 26.
TCU head coach Sonny Dykes provided the encouraging update following the Horned Frogs’ 31-7 victory over Arkansas State, saying the program expects Dwyer to play next week.
"We expect Jordan to play next week, " Dykes told reporters following the Horned Frogs' win on Saturday. "It’ll be good to have Jordan back... I think it’ll be a big lift for us."
That return could provide TCU with another major weapon as the schedule becomes more demanding.
Dwyer entered the season with significant expectations after establishing himself as one of the Horned Frogs’ most productive offensive players during his first season in Fort Worth. The Idaho transfer finished the 2025 campaign with 54 receptions for 730 yards and seven touchdowns while starting every regular-season game.
He also showed his ability to make an immediate impact at TCU, recording nine catches for 136 yards and a touchdown in his Horned Frogs debut against North Carolina.
With Dwyer sidelined to begin the 2026 campaign, TCU has had to rely on several other pass catchers to fill the void. That group has continued to develop, giving quarterback Jaden Craig multiple options through the opening weeks of the season.
Ed Small has emerged as one of the team's leading receivers, while tight end Kari Ashley also made an impact in TCU’s victory over Arkansas State.
Still, Dwyer’s experience and production give the Horned Frogs something they have been missing.
TCU enters Big 12 play at 2-1, and the conference schedule will provide a significantly different challenge than the opening portion of the season. Having a proven veteran receiver available could help the Horned Frogs add another dimension to an offense that will need to remain productive against conference competition.
Dwyer’s return also gives TCU another experienced target who has already demonstrated chemistry within the offense.
After spending the first three games watching from the sideline, Dwyer now appears poised to return when the stakes increase. If he is able to get back into his previous rhythm, his presence could be an important development for the Horned Frogs as they begin their push through Big 12 play.
