TCU men's golf heads to Utah as the No. 5 seed in Big 12 Match Play, with freshman Cameron Kuchar and Nathan Miller leading a talented Horned Frogs lineup into action.

FORT WORTH - TCU men's golf has a rising star, an experienced roster and an opportunity to make a statement against some of the Big 12's best programs.

The Horned Frogs enter the 2026 Big 12 Match Play Tournament as the No. 5 seed, beginning three days of head-to-head competition Monday at The Country Club in Salt Lake City, Utah.

And if freshman Cameron Kuchar can continue his impressive start to his collegiate career, TCU could be a dangerous opponent.

Kuchar, the son of PGA Tour veteran Matt Kuchar, made headlines in September when he captured a share of the Bearcat Invitational individual championship in just his second college tournament.

The freshman fired a 9-under 204 at Coldstream Country Club, becoming the second consecutive TCU freshman to win an individual title.

That's an impressive introduction to college golf.

But Kuchar isn't the only player capable of delivering big performances.

Sophomore Nathan Miller enters the tournament with TCU's best scoring average at 70.44. Miller has also been the Horned Frogs' top finisher at both the season-opening Pan Pacific University Super League Tournament in Japan and the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational.

Sam Udovich provides another proven option after earning All-Big 12 honors last season as a freshman.

TCU's six-player travel roster also features Toby Wilt, Charlie Wylie and Blake Brown.

Five players will compete in each team match, with coaches selecting their lineups before each round.

The Horned Frogs open pool play Monday against No. 12 West Virginia at 9 a.m. CT before meeting No. 13 Baylor at 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday brings the biggest test of the preliminary rounds when TCU faces No. 4 Kansas at 9 a.m. CT.

The tournament's unique format places a premium on individual battles.

Each team matchup features five head-to-head contests, with players earning one point for a victory and half a point for a tie.

The team accumulating the most individual points wins the matchup, earning three points toward the pool standings.

Pool winners advance to Tuesday afternoon's championship semifinals, with the title decided Wednesday morning.

TCU finished 12th in the tournament's previous edition in 2024, while its best finish remains third place in 2022.

That history gives the Horned Frogs additional motivation.

The competition won't be easy, with Oklahoma State entering as the top seed, followed by Texas Tech, Arizona State and Kansas.

But TCU has already demonstrated its potential this fall, including a runner-up team finish at the Bearcat Invitational.

The Horned Frogs also finished third at the 2026 Big 12 stroke-play championship, providing another indication of the program's ability to compete against elite conference opponents.

Now comes an opportunity to turn individual success into a significant team achievement.

For Kuchar, Miller and the rest of the Horned Frogs, a strong showing in Utah could provide valuable momentum heading into the remainder of the season.
