TCU crushed Grambling State 63-7 behind a huge night from Jaden Craig, but the Horned Frogs still received no votes in the latest Coaches Poll.
TCU did almost everything it could Saturday night to erase the sting of its season-opening loss.
Apparently, the coaches weren't impressed enough.
The Horned Frogs remain outside the latest Coaches Poll and didn't receive a single vote despite hammering Grambling State 63-7 at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
That leaves Sonny Dykes' team with plenty of ground to make up nationally after the 15-10 Week 1 loss to North Carolina.
The latest poll has Texas at No. 1 after its dramatic 24-23 comeback win over Ohio State, followed by Georgia, Notre Dame, Indiana and Miami. Ohio State dropped five spots to No. 6.
TCU, meanwhile, isn't even listed among the teams receiving votes.
That's a harsh reminder of how damaging the North Carolina loss was.
Saturday's response couldn't have been much stronger.
Quarterback Jaden Craig completed 24 of 31 passes for a career-high 391 yards and four touchdowns, completing 77.4 percent of his throws. Kari Ashley finished with 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns as TCU finally showed the explosive offense that was missing in Dublin.
The contrast was dramatic.
Craig threw for only 175 yards in the 15-10 loss to North Carolina as TCU failed to score after its first two possessions. Against Grambling, the Horned Frogs reached 63 points and looked like a completely different offense.
But there's an obvious problem.
Beating an FCS opponent - even by 56 points - doesn't erase losing to an unranked North Carolina team.
The Coaches Poll reflects that.
Several Big 12 programs remain comfortably ahead of TCU in the national picture. Texas Tech sits at No. 12, BYU is No. 13, Utah is No. 17 and Houston checks in at No. 23.
Even teams outside the Top 25 such as Florida, Louisville, Boise State and Oklahoma State received votes while TCU received none.
That should get the Horned Frogs' attention.
TCU proved Saturday that it can overwhelm an overmatched opponent. What it hasn't proven yet is that it deserves to be taken seriously nationally.
One blowout doesn't accomplish that.
The fastest way back into the rankings isn't complaining about being ignored.
It's stacking wins until the voters have no choice but to notice.
