TCU men’s golf finished tied for 17th at The Goodwin as Lewis Wright fired a final-round 65 and led the Horned Frogs at Stanford Golf Course.

TCU men’s golf wrapped up The Goodwin with a tie for 17th place Saturday, but the final round still delivered a bright spot thanks to a terrific finish from Lewis Wright.

Competing as an individual, Wright turned in one of the best rounds of the day at Stanford Golf Course and gave the Horned Frogs a strong closing push.

For TCU men’s golf, the tournament ended at 14-over par after the Frogs posted a 9-over 289 in the final round, matching their opening-day score.

While the team didn’t make the climb it hoped for on the leaderboard, Wright’s late surge gave the weekend a needed lift and showed the kind of scoring punch TCU can carry into the rest of the spring.

Wright was outstanding in the last round, carding a 5-under 65 with five birdies. That vaulted him to even par for the tournament and into a tie for 29th overall.

It was the lowest round posted by any TCU golfer during the event and one of the sharpest individual performances in the field on Saturday.

Nathan Miller was just behind him on the individual leaderboard. Miller finished at 1-over 211, good for a tie for 37th place, after rounds of 70, 67 and 74.

Jack Beauchamp also gave TCU a steady week, ending at 2-over 212 and tied for 44th. Charlie Wylie checked in at 3-over 213, which placed him in a tie for 50th.

Toby Wilt and Sam Udovich rounded out the TCU lineup. Wilt finished at 9-over 219, while Udovich came in at 11-over 221.

Stanford won the tournament at 17-under, with UCLA and New Mexico also finishing under par in a field loaded with quality programs. TCU shared 17th with Oregon in a competitive event that included several nationally ranked teams.

Now the Horned Frogs shift their focus to the Mountaineer Invitational on April 13-14 in Bridgeport, West Virginia. If Wright carries this kind of form forward, TCU could have some real momentum heading into its next start.
