
Jack Bell and Nolan Traeger homered as TCU beat Houston 8-3, extending its winning streak to four games at Lupton Stadium.
FORT WORTH - TCU baseball kept rolling Friday night, using two home runs and a strong bullpen finish to beat Houston 8-3 at Lupton Stadium.
The Horned Frogs improved to 26-15 overall and 11-8 in conference play with their fourth straight victory. Houston struck first with a leadoff homer in the second inning, but TCU answered quickly and never gave the lead back.
Rob Liddington and Nolan Traeger opened the bottom of the second with back-to-back singles before Jack Bell delivered the big swing of the night. Bell launched a three-run homer to right field, giving TCU a 3-1 lead and flipping the game immediately.
The Frogs added two more runs in the fourth. Liddington and Traeger again sparked the inning with singles, Lucas Franco brought home a run with a safety squeeze, and Colton Griffin followed with an RBI single.
Traeger stayed hot in the sixth, blasting a solo home run to right-center for his third long ball of the season. He finished with three hits and extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
TCU added separation in the eighth when Cole Cramer dropped a two-run single into right field to make it 8-2.
Trever Baumler earned the win, allowing two runs on three hits over 5.2 innings. Walter Quinn followed with 2.1 innings of relief, and Tanner Sagouspe slammed the door in the ninth by striking out all three batters he faced after Houston put two runners on.
TCU finished with 10 hits, five stolen bases and its 16th comeback win of the season. The series continues Saturday at 2 p.m. on ESPN+, with Lance Davis scheduled to start for the Horned Frogs.
